Use Social Media Marketing to Drive Theatre Attendance

I love when I get the opportunity to produce some theatrical animation to drive interest in an upcoming show, panto, play or other performance.

Animated video is highly engaging. Viewers tend to remember 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to just 10% when reading it via text. (Source: Invisia). It’s also highly effective at increasing conversions: Video on a landing page can increase conversions by 80%! (Source: motionbox)

But what about upfront cost to the theatre?

Okay, let's talk numbers. Take a quick look at these examples:

Animated films like these can be achieved with a budget of between £2,500 and £5,000, depending on project specifics.

A theatre like Theatr Felinfach in Ceredigion, South Wales, need only sell an additional about 130 tickets to recoup the investment. As the theatre contains 260 seats, 1 half-full show would pay for advertising the run of an entire show.

This means, even with a modest marketing budget, you can make great things happen. One of the most exciting parts of being an independent animator is being able to produce great work - even collaborate within a team - at a cost that’s less than a large animation studio.
