Happy Christmas 2023

I think it's natural and quite common to be reflective at this time of year, while we're hunkered down eating cheese and crackers and Christmas cake.

For many of us, the first half of 2023 felt like a slow burn. Personally, 80% of my freelance earnings rolled in after September. This is why I balance working full time with freelance work on the side: Even during the quiet part of the year, I knew my earnings wouldn't dip past a certain level.

Here are a few of my creative highlights from 2023:

01 Screwfix Black Friday Ads at Wordley

This was the biggest project undertaken at my full time gig at Wordley Creative. From building a 3D animatic in Cinema 4D, to countless versions for social media, I was kept busy!

02 New freelance clients

Shoutout to new clients Nooh Studio, MJ Diamond, and a special cheer for Oatsu – my very first non-studio client.

03 Strengthening bonds with existing clients

I owe a huge thankyou to Future Kings, Ally & Mo, King Bee Animation and Drum, all of whom are a privilege to work with.

04 Learning the Cinema 4D to Unreal Engine workflow

An unironic "finally". This was as fiddly as people had warned me, but I'm glad I've got it nailed. Texturing, lighting and rendering are next-level in Unreal Engine. There’s no reason not to know how to get it to play nice with C4D.

Merry Christmas!
